Born on July 9th, 1985, Alice Hurd and Mary Carpenter envisioned a family restaurant serving homestyle food and homemade desserts that would be a beloved addition to Cuba, NY dining. With a modest collection of copper (Kopper) and a handful of cherished recipes, the Kopper Keg Restaurant was established. Over time, Alice became the sole proprietor.
On any given day, you can visit and enjoy a delightful meal while engaging in good conversation with locals and travelers alike. If seating is limited due to high demand, you’ll find that someone is always ready to share their table, fostering new friendships. People from diverse backgrounds and distant places, including Europe and Africa, have contributed to the unique atmosphere of the restaurant. It's a place where interesting stories from the past and present unfold, making you feel right at home. Bonds are formed, and memories are created that last a lifetime.
As you look around, you'll notice an extensive collection of copper pieces, most of which were generously donated by patrons eager to contribute to the collection, each bearing its own story.
In 2006, Alice decided to retire but ensured the legacy continued by selling the restaurant to her niece, Ellen Shawl.
Today, the Kopper Keg Restaurant continues to flourish, adapting to the ever-evolving tastes of diners. The menu has grown to include a range of specialty dietary options alongside cherished classics. The Kopper Keg is proud to present a diverse menu that delivers great flavor and flair. We deeply appreciate our loyal customers and warmly welcome newcomers with their unique stories and companionship.
We wish you a pleasant dining experience here at The Kopper Keg!
